Does Milk Soap Have A Recipe?

Certain groups shared their secret recipe with this article and the tips are highlighted below on how to make this soothing, lush breast milk soap. Mind you, the sales have been that huge since its introduction in the market.

Before this new idea craze hit the breastfeeding moms, they say that they used to donate most of the extra ounces to premature babies in hospitals via the breast milk banks in their areas.

They say that so far they have been able to come up with two recipes;

  • Milk and vanilla breast milk, soap recipe,
  • And mint and lavender breast milk recipe.

The Method

  1. Melt the soap base around 500g. You can use a goat’s milk base as it is gentle on skin.
  2. Mix it in 250ml room temperature, breast milk, or any amount you deem right for your recipe.
  3. Stir the mixture thoroughly until all is mixed well and add any essential oils as mentioned above you may like in your soap.
  4. Mold the liquid by pouring it into containers of various shapes to make your soap bars.
  5. Put these breast milk liquid filled containers in the fridge, and leave them to harden, after a few hours they will have solidified and you get your soap bars.

Does it go off?

Many will expect it to go off since it contains breast milk. Fortunately, the soap doesn’t go off at all. Because once it hardens it encapsulates the milk, so in turn it preserves it as well as its goodness.

Some milk had to be frozen and defrosted in the warm water bath while the other milk was still fresh and the soaps made from both milk had no difference.

So Easy To Make.

You should ensure always that the ingredients you mix to your soap base are less than the actual amount of soap base itself, and it will definitely harden.

  1. Measure The Olive Oil Into A Stainless Steel Pot Or Plastic Bowl. Be Sure that It’s Large Enough To Hold The Whole Recipe With Room To Mix With A Stick Blender.
  2. Heat The Oil To 105 Degrees And Set Aside.
  3. Measure The Distilled Water And Lye Into Separate Heat Proof Non-Reactive Bowls. Add The Lye To The Water A Tablespoon At A Time (Never Add The Water To The Lye!). Stir Until The Lye Is Fully Dissolved.
  4. Add The Sodium Lactate Into The Lye Water (If Using).
  5. Allow The Lye Water Mixture To Cool Until It’s About 105 Degrees.
  6. Pour The Lye Mixture Into The Warmed Olive Oil Mixture. Insert The Stick Blender And Blend To A Light Trace.

  8. Pour The Soap Into A 10” Loaf Mold.
  9. Optional – Use A Small Spray Bottle To Spray The Top Of The Soap With Rubbing Alcohol A Few Times Over The Next 90 Minutes. This Will Help Prevent Soda Ash Forming On The Surface. It’s Cosmetic, And Harmless, But The Soap Looks Better Without It.
  10. Allow The Soap To Cure In The Mold For 2 To 5 Days. Un-Mold The Soap And Cut It Into Bars.
  11. Allow The Bars To Cure For At Least 6 Weeks Before Using. They’ll Still Be A Bit Soft At This Point, And Allowing 3 Months Before Using.
